Five brave volunteers from 11th Barry Sea Scouts are officially swapping their woggles for running shoes on May 17th as five of our volunteers tackle the Barry 10k! 🏃♂️💨
We use the term "running" very loosely. Given that most of them are in their 50s (or close enough to feel it in their knees), expect something closer to a very determined, slightly breathless "power walk." But whether we’re sprinting or strolling, our team of five is hitting the pavement with a single mission: funding this year’s Summer Camp.
The "price of adventure" is climbing higher than a scout on a climbing wall. Between rising equipment costs, transport, and site fees, we know that household budgets are being squeezed.
We believe every young person deserves a week under canvas, regardless of the bank balance at home. We’re "running" our socks off to ensure that no scout misses out on the magic of camp due to the cost of living.
To keep the motivation high, we’ve struck a deal with Neil. It’s simple:
The Goal: £1,000 for Summer Camp.
The Catch: If we hit that target, Neil has agreed to dye his hair a ridiculous colour just in time for camp!
Help our five volunteers reach the finish line (and turn Neil neon)! Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward getting our young members to camp.
