At 11th Barry, we know what matters to parents: seeing your child happy, confident, and ready for whatever the world throws at them. That’s what we do best.
Every week, Scouting is a perfect mix of fun, challenge, and real-world learning. While embracing modern adventure, we stand firmly by our core mission: helping young people to Be Prepared for life’s unexpected journeys. Our exciting programme gets young people moving and thinking outside the classroom, tackling everything from den building to creative coding challenges.
It's about much more than just the activities. We focus on developing the vital life skills that truly set them up for success:
Resilience & Character: We help them build the tenacity, empathy, and initiative to bounce back and support others.
Teamwork & Leadership: They learn to lead, solve problems together, and work as part of a strong team—skills essential for school and beyond.
Practical Know-How: Core essentials like cooking and basic first aid, alongside traditional scouting skills like navigation, pioneering (knots and lashings), and planning activities. This is the foundation of self-reliance and being prepared.
And the results speak for themselves. Research confirms that young people in Scouts are 17% more likely to show leadership and a third more likely to actively support their local communities.
This is where fun meets preparation.
The 11th Barry Sea Scout Group proudly maintains a partnership with the Royal British Legion (RBL) that has spanned well over a decade, forging a bond built on shared values of community, respect, and remembrance. This enduring affiliation is a source of immense pride for the Group and has become a vital part of its annual calendar and identity.
